MEAF delivers FDA/EFSA approved PET sheet extrusion line

Ultrathin rigid PP sheet extrusion nears completion
After finalising extrusion lines for projects in Nigeria, Lithuania, China and Indonesia, our team is working on a new project for a customer in the Far East to produce 200 µm (0.2mm) rigid sheet for lid production.
The extensive experience from MEAF in sheet extrusion line manufacturing, combined with the longterm partnership between our companies has resulted in MEAF receiving the award for this ultrathin PP sheet extrusion line.
Physical foaming and barrier sheet possibilities
As (most of us) face the challenges in the packaging market to produce more and more mono materials, increase the uses of recycled material and at the same time keep barrier properties for certain applications.
One of the most commonly used barrier is EVOH in a variety of layer compositions and # of layers. As more and more of our (potential) customer are facing these challenges when it comes to:
- Production with maximum flexibility vs. minimum adjustments to the machine configuration;
- Cost-effective production of a wide varieties of sheet;
- Utilisation of maximum of regrind (up to 100%) and reducing overall material costs for sheet (density reduction), whilst remaining final product properties;
- Have a CAPEX which is justifiable for the extra flexibility of producing both barrier sheet as well as standard single or multilayer sheet.
In order to meet these customer demands, we have run in-house testing for PP and inline lamination of PP-EVOH-PP to create barrier sheet without the additional investment for co-extruders and feedblock.
This test proves the possibility of lamination of PP – EVOH – PP sheet directly on the physical foamed sheet, providing a cost-effective solution to produce barrier sheet.
